Help Center Highlights: Top ArrangeMe Tips for Composers and Arrangers
Navigating the ArrangeMe platform can be a breeze-if you know where to look for answers. Whether you’re troubleshooting a missing title, optimizing your metadata, or controlling your sheet music previews, these highlights from the ArrangeMe Help Center will streamline your publishing experience!
1. My Piece Is Only Available on One Site-What Should I Do?
If your arrangement is showing up on only one of the two main distribution sites (Sheet Music Plus or Sheet Music Direct), don’t panic. This is a common hiccup, especially just after publishing. Here’s how to fix it:
Go to your title page on ArrangeMe.
Click the blue Edit button next to “Title Details.”
In the description box, simply add a space at the end, then delete it.
Save your changes.
Hit the blue Publish button on the title page to re-process your title.
If your piece still isn’t appearing on both sites after 72 hours, or you encounter an error page, contact ArrangeMe Support with your Song Title and ArrangeMe ID for further help!
2. Can’t Find the Song You Want to Arrange?
Not every copyrighted song is available for arrangement through ArrangeMe, though we are working on that! If your desired title doesn’t appear in the Song Search, it might not be approved for the program yet.
Here’s what you can do:
Email support@arrangeme.com to add your request to their list-they track unavailable titles for future consideration.
Your title may also be in the public domain! If you have any questions about how to find this out, check out our Guide to Public Domain Works!
Some songs or catalogs are restricted for various reasons, but ArrangeMe encourages you to reach out if you’re searching for something specific!
3. Controlling Your Preview Pages on Sheet Music Direct and Sheet Music Plus
Want to make sure customers see the right sample pages of your arrangement? Understanding the nuances of how preview pages appear on both Sheet Music Direct and Sheet Music Plus will give you the power to adjust what you show the world! The right preview can help showcase the best parts of your score and entice buyers.
Sheet Music Plus and Sheet Music Direct each have their own policies regarding preview pages:
Example: Sheet Music Direct preview page of “Still D.r.e.” Arr. Sarah Cellobat Chaffee
Sheet Music Direct shows only one preview page: the first page in your PDF.
Sheet Music Plus shows up to six pages or half of the total PDF asset, whichever is smaller.
If the asset is three, five, or seven pages, it will display two, three, or four pages respectively.
Whichever page(s) of your PDF you choose to display first, will be the preview seen by buyers!
Pro Tip: You may choose to create your own watermark filter for your PDF asset. You would place those watermarked pages first in your single, continuous PDF to ensure any preview pages on SMP and SMD included your watermark.
The buyer would simply discard those watermarked pages to play from the clean copies within your PDF, and you can control what potential customers see.
4. What Is Metadata and How do I Change it?
Metadata is the information attached to your music-like title, artist, composer, genre, and more, that allows digital platforms (like SMP and SMD) to properly sort, identify, and display your work. It’s essential for:
Making your music discoverable by potential buyers.
Ensuring you receive proper credit and commissions.
Providing context so your music isn’t lost in the digital crowd.
Always enter accurate, meaningful metadata-don’t try to “game” the system with misleading genres or titles, as this can confuse both customers and search algorithms!
On ArrangeMe, you can select up to five genres for your arrangement-this helps customers find your music through search filters.
Key tips:
Choose genres that accurately reflect your arrangement’s style.
Update your metadata if you make changes to your piece or want to reach a different audience.
Accurate metadata boosts your visibility and sales potential!
To change your metadata, simply edit your arrangement’s details in your ArrangeMe dashboard and save your updates.
